How to Increase the Longevity of Hearing Aids.

At Gardner Audiology, one of the most important things we do for our patients is routinely service their hearing aids to optimize performance and prevent expensive repairs in the future. Upkeep is very important for the longevity of hearing aids.

Here at Gardner Audiology, we recommend Hearing Aid Service visits every 6 months.  At these appointments we check, clean, or replace the following:

  • Check for wax in both ears
  • Wax filters
  • Domes
  • Retention Tails
  • Microphone Covers
  • Receivers
  • Battery contacts
  • Moisture Issues
  • Sound checks
  • Tube Replacement
  • Clean debris from Hearing Aids
  • Earmold cleanings

A daily cleaning routine is still recommended at home.  Wiping your hearing aids with a clean dry cloth and gently brushing, with a soft-bristled toothbrush, will help to remove debris that is common with everyday use.  Be sure to gently brush around battery doors/charging contacts, speaker outlets, and microphone covers.

Gardner Audiology will be happy to show you at your next Hearing Aid Service visit how to maintain your hearing aids.  For your convenience we also have “How to” videos available on our website.  Learn more here
