Medicare coverage for hearing aids is becoming a possibility. At this time the only Medicare recipients who have hearing aid benefits are those who participate in Medicare Part C advantage plans. Members of those plans may get a discount on hearing aids or actually have some kind of benefit that covers entry level aids.
Due to hearing industry and insurance inflation, you can expect that these plans will reduce benefits and increase copays in 2024. We won’t know to what extent those changes will be until about the second week in January of 2024.
Will Medicare recipients without Part C advantage plans receive hearing aid benefits in 2024. For now, the answer is… no. Washington has a lot of details to deal with before implementing Medicare coverage for hearing aids. For instance: At this time, only licensed audiologists are Medicare hearing providers so how would they include Hearing Instruments Specialists in the delivery model. Another obstacle is inflation and national debt.
