Almost any hearing aid can be repaired. Some repairs can be done in the office, others require a trip to a repair lab. If your hearing aid is under a manufacturer warranty, you may only be responsible for an office visit charge! If your hearing aid is out of warranty, the charge may be dependent on what is wrong and the age of the hearing aid. Many manufacturers will not repair their own hearing aids after 3 years. We have an All Make Repair Lab that we use who will repair any hearing aid, if they have the parts. The cost goes up slightly when the hearing aid hits 5 years of age.
The least expensive repairs are those we can perform in the office. A broken tube, a plugged wax filter, a clogged microphone, a bad speaker, a waterlogged hearing aid. Our Redux machines will pull amazing amounts of water out of hearing aids, and we have witnessed first-hand the revival of dead hearing aids. While it may fix all, it might just work on yours! In the office repairs start at $45. Some of these simple repairs can be performed by you in the privacy of your own home with the help of video tutorials.
If we must send your hearing aid out for repair and you are out of warranty, the repair will come back with a one-year repair warranty from the repair lab. If the hearing aid must be sent out for repair again during that year, the repair lab will not charge again. The only exception would be if you damaged the case of the hearing aid. Then there would be a recase fee. Normal wear and tear repairs would be covered.
