How To Adjust Your Hearing Aids

How do you adjust your hearing aids? There may be more than one way to accomplish that.   This will depend on the style of hearing aid you wear.  Hearing aids that fit behind your ear usually have one or two buttons on them. These buttons can be used as a volume control. They also might do absolutely nothing! The button has to be activated by your hearing professional. Once it is activated you may use it in the manner it was set up for. If you have two buttons on your hearing aid and you are using a volume control, the top button turns the volume up and the bottom button turns the volume down. If your hearing aid has only one button, typically the right hearing aid raises the volume, the left hearing aid lowers the volume.  Right Raises, Left Lowers!

The easiest way to adjust your hearing aid is with a smart phone. All of the prescription fit hearing aids today have Bluetooth that permits connecting to a phone. Connect the hearing aids, download the app, and you have a visual volume slider where you can see what you are doing as you use it.  This way you are not hunting for the button on the hearing aid, and you can see how much change you make.

No matter how you can adjust your hearing aids, today’s hearing aids need far fewer adjustments because they do more on their own. Let your hearing aid do its job!
