One of the most common questions I am asked is “How much do hearing aids cost?” There are a number of factors that go into determining the cost of hearing aids. Different styles of hearing aids may have different pricing. All hearing aid manufacturers offer several different technology levels, also affecting the pricing. Let’s see if we can demystify this!
First, let’s discuss if you have insurance that offers a benefit toward or even discount pricing on hearing aids. Most insurance companies utilize a third-party to administer your hearing benefits. The insurance company determines what your benefit is and then together with the third-party administrator, decide what hearing aids will be offered and what the price of those hearing aids will be. When you come into our office, the third party shares that information with us to utilize to counsel you on your benefits and options. Each insurance company and third-party combination determines this, and it is NOT the same across all the companies. Our office has no control over what is offered and what the cost is. We are only the messenger. Most offer a variety of options with a wide range of prices. Some have options with zero out of pocket, while others may have you pay anywhere from $199 per ear and up. To determine this, you must make an appointment so that we can verify your benefits.
If you do not have insurance benefits towards hearing aids, then you will be paying for them out of pocket. Hearing aid pricing is determined by the features in the hearing aids. Current technology hearing aids can range from $2500 to $5800 a pair. Lower cost hearing aids are more basic. As you go up in technology, as well as price, you gain noise management that helps you understand better in noisier places or in groups. We offer an entry level budget friendly hearing aid that is not the latest technology or rechargeable but is still a solid dependable hearing aid for $1090 a pair.
