MB came to the Zephyrhills office of Gardner Audiology. She is 94 years old and has been wearing in the canal hearing aids. Her vision is very poor and she has been struggling to understand conversation. I recommended a style change and she was a little resistant. She agreed to trial a set of Starkey X70 receiver in the canal hearing aids with power custom ear mold receivers. She was apprehensive because of the style change and her vision difficulties.
MB was fitted and handled the new hearing aids fairly well in the office. She returned a week later and said she was hearing significant improvement in understanding conversation. She was struggling slightly with insertion, but found it easier to change the batteries in the new aids! Another week went by and she was seeing improvement with ease of insertion.
Although MB was apprehensive to make a significant change at 94 years of age, she gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised! She purchased the hearing aids today.
