If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance, you may have a hearing aid benefit. There are multiple plans that members can have with BCBS insurance and depending on which one you have, you could have a hearing aid benefit. With BCBS insurance, the plan you have can determine how much hearing aid coverage there is; some plans may have a deductible, and it can be confusing the amount that may be covered toward hearing aids. To assist with any confusion, the Audiologists at Gardner Audiology will let you know in a concise way what you may be responsible for if there is any out-of-pocket deductible cost after completing a thorough hearing test, reviewing results, and counseling you on what the best hearing aid option is if you are a candidate.
BCBS Federal plans have a $2500 benefit that can be utilized every 5 years. Beginning in 2024, the BCBS Federal plans now require pre-authorization from your insurance and medical clearance from your primary care physician for all patients before placing a hearing aid order. BCBS also has Medicare Advantage plans that may offer their members discounted pricing or a benefit toward hearing aids.
