A question we are often asked is if insurance covers the cost of hearing aids. While this is not a one-size-fits-all answer, many Aetna plans do offer coverage or discounts towards the purchase of hearing aids!
The amount of benefit will depend on what type of plan you have. If your health insurance is through your employer, benefits are dependent on the individual plan. We’ve seen patients have full coverage towards hearing aids with these plans, though sometimes you must meet a deductible first.
Medicare Advantage plans by Aetna, (ones that replace traditional Medicare and supplements) often have a hearing aid benefit anywhere from $500 to $2,500 per hearing aid. Retiree plans through Aetna have coverage through your union or former employer. Many times, these plans have full coverage for hearing aids.
