Pasco County Gardner Audiology Patient Loves the Sound of Music With New Starkey Muse Hearing Aid System

RW has been coming to the Zephyrhills office of Gardner Audiology for many years. She is active, travels extensively, and attends many concerts. She is also a piano player. She came in to trial the new Muse receiver in the canal hearing aids from Starkey for two reasons. She wanted to understand conversation better in noisy environments and she wanted to improve the quality of music.

She was fitted with Muse i2400 RICs and within a week went to a weekend music festival. She was thrilled with the improved quality of music! Her only complaint was when she herself played piano the hearing aids would occasionally make some noise and she did not hear the high notes quite as well as she had hoped. We set up a separate program within the hearing aids to use when she played with less noise management and a different feedback suppression and she returned a week later to say it was perfect.

RW also experimented with the Starkey remote microphone and the SurfLink Mobile (SLM) 2. She has already been using the SurfLink Media Device with her previous Wi110 hearing aids to stream television and music directly to her hearing aids. She is a runner and wanted to use the SLM to stream music from her phone while she is running. She loves this feature and also enjoys answering her cell phone calls with her hearing aids. The remote microphone helps her hear her husband better in noisy restaurants, although she sees great improvement with the new hearing aids alone!

RW is very happy to have found hearing aids that are better meeting the demands of her active lifestyle. She also knows that sometimes hearing aids alone do not solve all the frustrations that hearing loss causes. Sometimes it take a “system” comprised of several devices to receive maximum benefit.
