If you or someone you know is a United Auto Workers (UAW) retiree, then you have a hearing aid benefit through your insurance! UAW works alongside TruHearing to provide members with hearing aid benefits. At Gardner Audiology, each of our 10 locations has a provider who can inform you of your benefits through UAW.
Your first appointment at Gardner Audiology will be with a Doctor of Audiology, not a salesman. The Audiologist will test your hearing, review the results and provide the best recommendation for you based on your hearing loss, lifestyle, budget and other considerations. For UAW members, the hearing aid price starts at a no out-of-pocket expense; however, there is an option to upgrade for an additional cost to a higher technology level with more noise management if you live an active lifestyle, and the option to upgrade to rechargeable devices as well.
Most of the hearing aids offered by UAW are Bluetooth compatible (depending on the make & model of your phone & if the size of the hearing aid can accommodate Bluetooth). Your Audiologist will guide you as to which option is compatible with your smart phone if streaming is important to you. If you have a smart phone, you can download your hearing aid manufacturer’s app to your phone and use it to control your devices in a visual way rather than just using the buttons on the hearing aid itself. For UAW members, you will have a 60-day trial period and can get new devices every 3 years (which is typically when your hearing aid warranty expires).
