I am excited to have had the opportunity to utilize Telehealth in my audiology practice. I work in two offices that are approximately 60 miles apart. One of these offices is a satellite office where I see hearing impaired patients two days a week. One of our licensed audiology assistants is in that office four days a week.
With the help of today’s technology, I am able to look in ears, adjust hearing aids and consult with patients from one office to another. Using FaceTime on our iPads, I am able to have face to face conversation with the patient. After the assistant connects the hearing aids, I am able to remotely control the computer in the other office to make adjustments.
The patients who have participated in these Telehealth practices have been very pleased to have their problem solved instantly, without a return trip. Everyone who has participated has given this technology “two thumbs up!”
