There are many things to consider when purchasing hearing aids. For the new user it can be overwhelming. There are many choices regarding style, technology level, color, accessories, and manufacturer. The choice of manufacturer may be the most important decision. A safe way to start is to consider one of the top six manufacturers in the world; Starkey, ReSound, Oticon, Siemens, Widex, or Phonak. These companies have been around for quite some time and are known for quality and innovation. They are widely distributed, making adjustment or repair while away from home much easier than a lesser known brand.
Starkey is an American owned and operated hearing aid manufacturer based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota since 1967. Starkey is widely distributed worldwide and has many business affiliates in the St. Petersburg. Business affiliates receive ongoing training and support to maintain a high level of expertise with Starkey products with local seminars, in office training, and online training via the internet. In the event of questions, consumers can contact support staff by phone call and internet chat.
Starkey’s latest product lines include the “z” series devices and “Halo”. The “z” series hearing aids are known for their outstanding feedback (whistling) eliminator and noise management systems. The Acuity Directional Microphone/Speech ID provides easier listening in a variety of noisy environments. Also, and especially important in the hot, humid summer months in St. Petersburg is the HydraShield2 nano-coating technology, enabling the hearing aids to stand up to moisture and perspiration. Yet another feature of the “z” series from Starkey is the ear to ear wireless communication in which the hearing aids work together to make comfort and conversation the top priority in every listening environment.
The Halo includes the features of the “z” series and goes a step further by allowing a connection to an iphone, iPad, or iPod Touch via the TruLink application for direct streaming of phone calls and music. It provides for exceptional clarity and eliminates buzzing and whistling. Another feature of the Halo TruLink app allows the user to make minor adjustments to sound quality via the iphone.
At Gardner Audiology, we look forward to discussing your listening difficulties and solution options.
