American Telemedicine Association (ATA) hosted an international telemedicine event at the Orlando Convention Center on April 22nd through the 26th.
I attended the conference with my audiology associates Dr. Angela Schenk, Dr. Jodi Conter, and Dr. Bart Baer. We were impressed with the large scale of this event. I counted about 125 exhibitors and sponsors. Many healthcare entities were represented including the American Speech and Hearing Association. I was very happy to see their booth and learn that tele practice has been of interest to them for many years.
Gardner Audiology has seven Tampa Bay locations that are inter-connected for tele audiology services. This was the second telemedicine conference that we have attended and by far was the most impressive. We met some very innovative people especially in the areas of psychiatry, software systems, video conferencing, and medical hardware.
We learned a lot and were inspired to see that ASHA was one of the exhibitors.
